Bei so lustigen Geschichten macht es besonders Spaß zu illustrieren! Acht bekannte Märchen erhalten in “Modern Fairy Tales”, geschrieben von Neil Stainthorpe, eine ganz neue Wendung.

Cinderella etwa muss dem etwas einfältigen Prinzen erst einmal auf die Sprünge helfen und legt ihm eine Spur mit all ihren Schuhen. Der Froschkönig fischt der Prinzessin ihr geliebtes Handy aus dem Teich und Hänsel und Gretel müssen feststellen, dass das berühmte Lebkuchenhaus der Hexe eigentlich aus Plastik ist.

“Ah! You’re the man who does the flowers!
You must have waited here for hours!”
The wolf said, “What? Eh? Oh, yeah, right!
I think about them day and night.”

So, he thought, “I’ll soon impress her,
Sound just like a flower professor!”
So, he started his narration
Of dubious flower information.

(…) Roses, tulips… er … these are peas,
Daffodils, er … cottage cheese.
This edelweiss is Pakistani!
Grab a bunch, we’ll go to granny.”
